Frutiger

Another project I completed for a typography course involved researching a certain typeface. I drew Frutiger, and we then had to create a way to teach other students about the font, like a book, poster, brochure or other deliverable.

When I started out I really wanted to make a poster with an image of Adrian Frutiger in his iconic looking glasses. I decided to make a typeface portrait of him using his font, and then used the back of the poster as information about the font and why is was created etc..

I really wanted to make it different so I decided to make it so that when the poster was folded it would make a book, and when it is opened the entire way, the portrait would be visible. Each time a page is opened it shows more information.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a printer that would print a poster of this size front and back for a reasonable price, so I created it myself with two poster and put them together. The final product worked but was not what I had in mind as far as how it looked. So please, use your imagination! The book would be a square, and the cover page is the white area with the title, Frutiger: a brief history. and each square following is a page or a spread.
